Food Fight

Getting this headstrong toddler to eat is becoming an increasingly interesting battle! Daniel has a mind of his own when it comes to eating. He knows when, where, and what he wants to eat and exactly how he wants to go about doing it. Right now, that means Mom can't help at all (not even to reposition an awkwardly held spoon or turn a bowl right-side-up again. It also means that there are only about five foods that make the daily menu: applesauce, yogurt, oatmeal, cold cereal, and crackers. The list of foods at least triples if you add sugar and sweets. It also means a lot of screeching when Mom can't figure out what's on his mind and a lot of mopping of floors, wiping of faces and hair, and spotting of clothes (bibs are often refused by my little food tyrant). I keep reminding myself that this phase, like all others, will soon pass and that Daniel will not starve to death or suffer from malnutrition in the meantime. But for now, I'm growing weary of this food fight!!!
