Fieldtrip Friday

James and Daniel have been asking for a couple of weeks if we could visit our local fire station. We stopped by last year and the firefighters were so friendly and willing to get down on a 3 year old's level. But last year James was a little intimidated by the big firetrucks and wanted to keep his distance. This year, however, he is all grown up and felt like he needed a second chance to check out the trucks!

I called the fire station to see if we could drop in. They actually scheduled a formal tour for us! So this morning we go our own guided tour of the fire house. We got to check out the living quarters, the city maps and emergency indicators, the training rooms, and all the equipment. The highlight, of course, was the garage where all the fire engines, ambulances, and trucks were parked. Several firemen were there and they gave James and Daniel the royal treatment. Both boys climbed all over the trucks and inside the ambulance. They even got to help put the gurney inside. To cap off this exciting adventure, the boys were given "Stop, Drop, and Roll" wristbands, suckers, and stickers. What a treat! We are gratefulfor these brave, kind heroes in our community. They sure made two little boys very happy this morning!

That sounds like so much fun! I'm sure your boys were in heaven! How nice of the firemen!
