Thrills and Spills

Saturday was the big "Gravel Pit Fieldtrip". Grandpa and Grandma Mullins heard about an open house/tour at Granite Construction Company near Big Cottonwood Canyon and knew it would be an exciting outing for our tractor-loving boys. And yes...after all the anticipation and the announcements of "I'm going to the gravel pit" (even to the FedEx guy!)...the day was a big hit! The boys loved all the big tractors and equipment! They even got hats, stickers, and rocks to take home. What a haul!
Standing in a little corner of heaven....
It doesn't get much better than this!
James finally gets to "drive"
The wonderful day didn't end on such a good note, however. Later last evening when Daniel was going into the garage to help his dad, he took a nasty spill down the garage stairs onto the concrete floor. The final result was a terrible gash on his eye and a trip to the emergency room...again. Normally calm Mommy was a wreck and squimish Daddy was the soothing presence for Daniel as we endured a frustrating nearly four hour stay in the ER before getting about 12 stitches. Daniel really looks like a bruiser and he is quite concerned that his owie isn't better yet. This poor kid seems to have terrible luck this summer. Thanks to our wonderful neighbors who all rallied to take care of a very concerned James while we were gone.
We REALLY hope this is our last hospital trip this year until it is time for Baby Ben to arrive.

OUCH!!!!

How cum he wasn't wearing his new hard hat? Maybe you ought to get him a football helmet to wear. I'm worried that the Texas Child Protective Services will be coming after the parents of this frequently abused little kid.

I am soooo sorry this happened. He looks so sad. Hopefully it will all heal fast and clean. We know how trauma goes at our house. Take care Daniel! Gook Luck Amy & Art!

WHOLLY COW! That eye looks so bad - i am soo sorry for poor little Danny Boy. Remember the days when you and Art would sit behind us at church and count how many cuts and scraps my boys had. Raising boys can make you a nervous wreck! I certainly sympathize.
