Summer Round Up

Here is a recap of some of the fun "last fling" activities we tried to sqeeze in as our summer came to an end...

We spent a Saturday fishing at Silver Lake with Grandpa and Grandma Mullins. Actually, the "fishing" lasted about 20 minutes before the boys had moved on to playing in the dirt, feeding the chipmunks, and exploring in the trees. Patience, Daddy, your little fishermen have not yet developed the passion...
After fishing we headed up to Brighton where they were hosting an awesome car show. The boys LOVE car "fashion shows" (Daniel's version of "old-fashioned car shows") They had a hard time choosing their favorites, although both of them were quite partial to the "flame cars".

Uncle Brad brought over a gorgeous Harley one evening. James was immediately smitten. He was absolutely dying to go for a ride, but his fear of loud noises was getting the best of him. He just couldn't bring himself to get on. Finally, on the verge of tears at the thought of missing out on this prime opportunity, he gathered his courage, stuffed in some earplugs, and went for a spin. I think the smile says it all! (Daddy was having a bit of fun, too, don't you think???)

Grandma Seal invited the Utah grandkids for a swimming date at the Willow Creek Country Club. The grandkids all ADORE her, as you can see here. She sure knows how to do a great job of "grandma spoiling". These cute kiddos love each other, too. They always have a the best time when they are together.

Courtesy of Art's co-worker, Kathy, Daddy, Grandpa Seal, and the boys got to go the BYU's "Meet the Players" day in Provo. Kathy's son, Braden Hansen, is a starter for the team. He showed the boys a great time. They got to talk to lots of players, get lots of autographs on their hats, meet Cosmo the Cougers, participate in some drills, and even play a little Wii! Fun stuff!

Finally, Daddy hosted the Great Backyard Campout since rain wrecked our Ward Campout plans. Art was good to pitch our HUGE tent in the backyard. The boys were very impressed. We played Go Fish, read stories, ate snacks, and experimented with flashlights and lanterns. The boys thought it was especially cool to stay up until 10 pm! Mommy stayed in the tent until they were asleep and then "sacrificed" and went inside to sleep with Baby Ben (we didn't think a teething baby would be a fun tent buddy!)

Farewell to the great Summer of 2009. Our family enjoyed it all!!!
